but it was painful and I do not plan to read more books ...

I managed to make it all the way to the end of this book, but it was painful and I do not plan to read more books by this author. It is hard to understand all of the 4 and 5 star reviews. The writing contains a fair number of grammatical errors, but it's the stilted sentences that really make this book a difficult read. Sentences are short, choppy and sometimes repetitive. The story is OK, albeit a bit improbable. I cannot recommend this book.

Could be a stronger mystery with more character and story development

Unpolished and full of clichés, the story and characters lacked development. The solution, while making sense mystery-wise, lacked the development to really make this a true mystery. It seemed as if it was a re-telling of a story that is being passed along, and with each re-telling the story loses more intensity. The author has potential, but needs to spend more time on development.

Prescription for pain

I managed to get through the first 9 chapters, then couldn't keep going and deleted the book from my Kindle. The stilted sentences, the constant telling instead of showing, and the improbable, incorrect scenarios were just too painful. No law enforcement ever gathers the alleged suspects at the scene of the crime to question them, they're never questioned together, and a line up is not what that is called. A line up is when a witness goes to identify a possible suspect, out of a group of similar looking people, either in a physical line up at the police station through a one way window, or a spread of photos. I kept hoping the book would get better, but when I got to this particular part, I knew it wouldn't...and as leisure time is precious, I wasn't going to waste mine trying to slog through the rest of this book.
